Our History

Vermont Aged Care has been serving the community in and around Vermont for over 35 years now. Tom and Mary George have been the cornerstones of this family-run business since taking it over in 1989. As two of the original directors of the company, they have overseen many changes and improvements over three decades in aged care. The George family’s cultural heritage traces back to Kerala, South India. It is from this cultural, family-focused ethos that the essence of our service at Vermont has taken root. Traditionally and culturally we affirm the importance of the elders in our community. Our elders ought to be honoured and respected after a lifetime of wisdom gained over their years. We strive to provide compassionate and genuine care and connection with and for our elders – and this is what our elders and their families have come to really appreciate about the Vermont Aged Care family.

Meet Our Family.

Tom continues his work in the family business to this day as Managing Director. Sadly, Mary passed away unexpectedly in 2018. Tom and Mary’s two sons, Gary and Gerry, have both commenced working full time in the family business in recent years. Having both been born, raised and educated in Australia, they bring a broad range of skills and experiences from their previous vocations in various industry sectors to continue to refine and enhance the operation of the business and reinvigorate our status as a leading aged care provider in Vermont. Yet at the heart of it all for them also, is a genuine desire to promote purposeful living and sincere care and respect for elders. Over the past few years, the leadership team within the Vermont Aged Care family has also grown. This helps us achieve continuous improvement across the various domains of aged care and to foster an atmosphere where our elders are encouraged to continue to live with purpose and satisfaction. As a group, the team has over 100 years of experience within the aged care industry between them! Take a look at our current leadership team below.
